Back to School
Dear Blanchard Middle School Families,

As we welcome your children next week, a few staff members will also be welcomed to the Blanchard family. Mr. Gregg Chambers will be the new math and science teacher on 7 Green. Mr. Chambers joins us from Dover-Sherborn Middle School, and his teaching and business background includes work with students from middle school to college age. Ms. Marilyn Archibald joins us as a student support teacher on 6 White. Ms. Archibald brings over twenty years of teaching experience in elementary, middle level, and special education to her new role. Finally, Ms. Kristen Donovan-Burns and Ms. Melissa Hansen, teaching assistants, join us from the Day School and will be working with students in the sixth grade.

Fall Athletics Information
The sports season will kick of with an informational meeting for all students interested in our sports programs on Thursday, August 31 in the cafeteria during Advisory block. All students interested in any sport should attend. For fall, we have tryouts for any seventh or eighth grade boy or girl interested in our soccer teams or girls field hockey. All grades are invited to join our cross country team with no tryouts required.  Cross country is the only sport available for incoming sixth graders during the fall. Coaches will be on hand during the meeting to answer any sport specific questions. Tryouts for soccer and field hockey and practice for cross country will begin on Tuesday, September 5. The fall sports program runs Monday-Thursday from 2:30-4:00. Our cross country team is bussed to Stony Brook for all practices and home meets.  Parent pickup is required promptly by 4:00 at the Stony Brook track.  Please visit our Blanchard sports page for student requirements PRIOR to the start of the season on September 5.  All students MUST BE registered and must have an up to date physical within the last 13 months on file with our nurse and parent/child. All athletes are required to watch a concussion video. Links to all these requirements are found on our Blanchard sports page which is found under the student tab.

I hope your families enjoy every minute of the last weekend of summer vacation!
