November/December
Thanks to all of you have donated the much-needed tissues, Lysol wipes, and hand sanitizers! Due to the high number of absences, the administration sent home a letter with your child regarding our absentee make-up policy. A copy of this letter can be found on the Blanchard homepage. Please remind your children that seven green posts an overview of our classwork as well as our homework daily. Study buddies can also come in handy during an absence.
Upcoming events include an in-school field trip, Pyramids & Pharaohs, on December 2 highlighting the culture of ancient Egypt. Term one report cards will be arriving home on December 10 with parent conferences following on December 16 and 17. We look forward to seeing you then.
In math, we are working on writing and solving one- and two-step equations. We will be wrapping up our unit on Inside Earth before the winter break. Watch our homework page for the exact date of the Inside Earth CBA. Our Comic Life projects on Convection Currents in the Mantle can be viewed on the Blanchard homepage. You can view them by visiting the Blanchard Home Page and clicking on "For Students" and dragging down to "Student Showcase". This is a password protected area so you will need to know the User ID and the password to view the projects. Your children should know this information.
In social studies, we are well into our Egypt unit. Students have had a chance to make a mummy and build a pyramid in the computer lab. In language arts, we are in the midst of our short story unit that focuses on the elements of fiction.
