Looking WA Last Night Donations and Volunteers!

The Westford Academy Class of 2026 is just weeks away from graduation, and we're gearing up for one of our most cherished senior traditions: Last Night Celebration

Last Night has been celebrated with the WA graduates for over 36 years and the Westford Academy Last Night Committee has been working hard to ensure this special tradition will continue. On the evening of June 5th, 2026, graduating seniors come together for a safe, substance-free overnight celebration filled with fun activities, entertainment, raffle prizes, and more — a memorable send-off to share with friends before the next chapter begins.

Before you know, your child will be enjoying Last Night festivities of their own!! Every year, it takes 300+ dedicated volunteers and the generous support of donors to make the night possible. To keep this tradition alive for the Class of 2026, we need:

  1. Help to decorate/ set-up before the event and run activities during the event. We rely heavily on parents of underclassmen and younger grades for the event so that the parents of Seniors can enjoy graduation. For more information on time slots and how to sign up to volunteer, go to: https://walastnight.org/volunteer
  1. Last Night is totally funded through generous donations of Westford Families and area businesses. Donations are used to fund the entertainment, prizes and memorable gifts for the Seniors. For more information on purchasing from our Raffle Wish List or making an online donation, go to http://walastnight.org/donate.

We appreciate your consideration in helping us with Last Night.  Your support will make all the difference.   Also, if you can, please spread the word.   Thanks for your support!  The WA Last Night Committee https://walastnight.org

Energy Drink Reminder

Please help us keep our students healthy and focused by discouraging them from bringing energy drinks to school. These drinks (Celcius, Monster, Red Bull, & Alanis) contain high caffeine levels and other stimulant substances that can increase feelings of anxiety, rapid heart beat, impulsive behavior, and trouble with attention. There is not any actual energy in these drinks, they do not contain any carbohydrates or protein, or healthy fats. They are simply fake sweeteners, chemical flavors & lots of caffeine. The American Academy of Pediatrics has advised against consumption by anyone under the age of 18. For some students, this trend has become a way to "look cool" and gain social status from their peers. The companies that make these drinks are marketing their products via social media through many popular tiktok and instagram influencers showing these drinks as a part of their posts. Instead, please encourage your student to bring water and a healthy snack for sustained real energy that supports better learning at school.

Drop Off Reminder

Please Do Not Drop Off Your Student In The Parking Lot; this is a safety hazard.

Parents are reminded, do not drop off in the parking lot.  Everyone must follow the drop off procedure and circle around the back of the building.  Dropping off in the parking lot has created a major safety hazard for students and staff.

Yearbook News!

We’re excited to share that yearbooks are now on sale! Each yearbook is $26 and can be ordered online only from now until April 17. Please note that no cash sales will be accepted. To place your order, visit ybpay.lifetouch.com/Order/SelectJob and enter our school code 14501426.

Message from Nurse Bryson

Reminder for Parents of Students with Life-Threatening Allergies:  Per WPS policy, all students with life-threatening allergies (LTA) are required to have an up-to-date Allergy Action Plan and EpiPen order on file with the school nurse.  If you have not already submitted this paperwork, please do so as soon as possible. Forms may be emailed to the school nurse (lbryson@westfordk12.us) or sent in with your student to be dropped off at the nurse’s office.

Please note: Students without the required documentation on file will not be permitted to attend school-sponsored field trips until all paperwork is complete.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this important safety requirement!

Reminder for Parents of 7th Graders

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires all 7th graders to have an updated physical exam with immunizations on file prior to the start of 7th grade.

Please submit your child’s most recent physical dated August 31, 2025  or later. You can: Email it to lbryson@westfordk12.us, or have your student drop it off at the Nurse’s Office.

Thank you for helping us keep our student health records up to date.

Morning and Afternoon Routines–Arrival and Dismissal

Please Do Not Drop Off Your Student In The Parking Lot; this is a safety hazard.

School begins at 8:00, so it is important that students arrive with enough time to enter the building, get to their lockers, and get to their Advisory by 8:00. If they enter the building at 7:50 they should have plenty of time to do all that they need to do before the school day officially begins.  Any student arriving after the morning bell needs to sign in at the Counseling Office and get a pass. For details concerning drop off/arrival and pick up/dismissal please CLICK HERE.  Additional helpful information can be found HERE.  Dismissal is at 2:20 pm with parent pick up around the building; just like morning drop off.

Yondr Pouches

Many students are reporting to their teachers that they do not bring a phone to school and therefore do not need a Yondr Pouch; please stress to your student that if they come to school with a phone and fail to keep it in the Yondr Pouch they will face disciplinary consequences.  If a student forgets their pouch at home they can leave their device in the main office for the school day, but should a student lose their pouch they will be charged a replacement fee.   If a student gets a device mid-year, they should come to the main office and we will give them their assigned Yondr pouch. We have unlocking devices available at strategic places throughout the building for students to use as they exit for dismissal. Here is additional  information about Yondr pouches.

Dear Blanchard families,

We are in our final week prior to April Vacation! The weather is improving and things are beginning to feel more seasonal.  Next week will be another busy week here at Blanchard; we will be recognizing our Trimester 2 Honored Citizens on Wednesday, hosting a Coffee Truck for staff courtesy of the PTO on Thursday and our 8th Graders will be visiting the State House on Friday.  Please help us keep your students safe and healthy, see our reminders below related to energy drinks and e-bike safety.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Adam & Patti

Below is important information for families:

New Website!

Westford Public Schools has a new website!  The official Lloyd G. Blanchard Middle School site is https://bms.westfordk12.us/.  Please update your bookmarks and be sure to take a spin around our new home on the web.

E-Bike Reminders

Students using e-bikes to get to and from school are reminded they should not be having anyone riding with them and they need to wear helmets when driving.

Flowers to Empower — Now Enrolling for 2026! Zoom Sessions: 4/6 and 4/8:

Flowers to Empower is a Westford-based nonprofit that empowers girls in grades 5–12 through flower farming, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy. Our student members, called Farmhers, plant and harvest flowers, run a real flower stand at local markets, hold leadership roles with real responsibilities, and vote on how to donate a portion of their earnings to organizations they care about. They also go on adventures: winter hikes, Cape Cod bike rides, sunrise walks on Salisbury Beach. In 2025, our Farmhers sold $7,400 in flowers and donated $2,000 back to the Westford community.

We are now accepting new members for 2026. The program is free to join. Girls in grades 5–12 are welcome with no experience needed, just a willingness to show up and try. Join us for a free Zoom information session on April 6 or April 8 at 7:00 PM to learn more.
